The Deficit

darwin-1-sm

From the Washington Post:

In his weekly radio and Internet address today, Obama expressed determination to “get exploding deficits under control” and described his budget request as “sober in its assessments, honest in its accounting, and lays out in detail my strategy for investing in what we need, cutting what we don’t, and restoring fiscal discipline.”

This is coming from the same guy that just signed a law that puts our country over a trillion dollars in debt and has numerous members of his cabinet that are tax cheats and liars. I am already hoping for change in 2010. Aren’t you?

Clemency for Terror

ddg-67_cole-hole-close_usnavy01

Remember the USS Cole? The ship in the Gulf of Aden that was suicide bombed by al Qaeda terrorists, who murdered seventeen U.S. Navy sailors?

Yahoo! News:

The Pentagon’s senior judge overseeing terror trials at Guantanamo Bay dropped charges Thursday against an al-Qaida suspect in the 2000 USS Cole bombing, upholding President Barack Obama‘s order to freeze military tribunals there.

The charges against suspected al-Qaida bomber Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri marked the last active Guantanamo war crimes case.

Meanwhile, there are a bunch of families with the victims of this murdering dog that continue to wonder if they will ever receive some justice for the murders of their loved ones.

Obama’s doing really good. He’s working hard to “restore our image” abroad, while at the same time, making himself look like a weak fool at home.

Note: You are also making yourself look weak around the world.

We Have Michael Steele

Michael Steele is now the Chairman of the Republican National Committee. A conservative is a good move for the Republicans and this will certainly help them come back in 2010.

Stupidity Has Passed in the House

The Democrats passed the pork bill in the House, and it’s headed to the Senate.

In a swift victory for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House approved a historically huge $819 billion stimulus bill Wednesday night, filled with new spending and tax cuts at the core of the young adminstration’s revival plan for the desperately ailing economy. The vote was 244-188.

178 of the no votes were from Republicans. Not even one caved to the Democrats. I’m actually impressed. They need at least two of them to cave in the Senate to get this passed. We will wait and see.

Boehner Just Says No

From The Politico:

House Republican Leader John A. Boehner and his No. 2, Whip Eric Cantor, told their rank-and-file members Tuesday morning during a closed-door meeting to oppose the bill when it comes to the floor Wednesday, according to an aide familiar with the discussion. Boehner told members that he’s voting against the stimulus, and Cantor told the assembled Republicans that there wasn’t any reason for them to support the measure, according to another person in the room. Cantor and his whip team are going to urge GOP members to oppose it.

Obama doesn’t need Republican support. This pork stimulus bill can easily pass and be signed into law without the Republicans. The reason he wants them so badly to support it is so that when it fails, and it will definitely fail, we can spread the wealth around. Oh, excuse me, spread the blame around.

Pizza Delivery

From The Ledger:

Police say two teenage girls were arrested on charges of beating a Papa John’s delivery man and stealing dinner they allegedly ordered: pizza, wings and a cheese steak that cost $55.

No cheese sticks?

Let My People Go

A pair of terrorists that were set free from GITMO have appeared on an al Qaeda video. They are pictured below. They don’t look very ‘terrorizing’ but I suppose that’s besides the point.

Google News reports:

“By Allah, imprisonment only increased our persistence in our principles for which we went out, did jihad for, and were imprisoned for,” al-Shihri was quoted as saying.

They also said that the food in Yemen is not as good as GITMO, and they really missed the beautiful surf and the sand.

Obama’s Approval Rating

The Politico reports:

The Gallup Poll on Saturday released the first job-approval rating for President Obama, based on interviews during his first three full days in office: 68 percent.

Now that he’s in office, Obama’s approval ratings are starting to normalize, as partisan back-and-forth picks up. Just a week ago, Gallup found an astonishing 83 percent approval of how he has handled his transition, showing he had even won over most Republicans.

If you notice the paragraph reports his approval rating as great news. He’s at sixty-eight percent after a full three days in office. What I see, however, is that his approval rating during transition and now since taking office, has dropped fifteen percentage points. Interesting, isn’t it?

We’ve Won

Despite Harry Reid’s attempt at surrender in Iraq, we’ve actually won. The mainstream media won’t report it of course, but the top Marine, Commandant General James Conway says that Iraq is stable, and it’s time to move his troops to Afghanistan.

From Military.com:

Iraq is stable enough to allow the roughly 22,000 U.S. Marines there to withdraw, the service’s top general said Friday.

“The time is right for Marines in general terms to leave Iraq,” said Marine Corps Commandant James Conway.
